Arrests – is it possible to publish names without mud sticking?

Roy Greenslade’s column in today’s London Evening Standard concerns the difficulty of drawing a line between privacy and the right to know when reporting arrests.

It was inspired by the revelation that there had been a 12-day gap between Jimmy Tarbuck being arrested by North Yorkshire police and that fact being reported.
