Earlier this month Mr Johnson dismissed the warnings of City of London bankers, including Goldman Sachs, about the damage a Brexit could inflict on the financial centre.
He said: “These were the people who engineered the biggest financial disaster of the last century.
“What I would say is they are also the same people who said that if we didn’t join the euro there would be all sorts of economic disasters. They never happen.”
